The History Of Lena Schools
 
The first school of Lena was built in 1949. It was located at Samuel Dodd's Orchard. The second log school house was built on the corner of Franklin and the Lena State Bank. It was used from 1850-1854. It is now a home and the log was covered with siding. The third school was known as "the little stone school house" This was built at the corner of Lena and Franklin. It was operated till 1859. As Lena's population grew they needed a bigger school which was known as "the big stone school house" It was built on the exact site that the Lena Public Library is. This school was two stories high and contained four rooms. During the Civil War the school served as the recruiting center for volunteers. After, it was called the Poultry Buying Center for the Lena area.
The school population was growing rapidly, and in 1868
